IASME Cyber Assurance (ICA)

Take the next step on your cyber resilience journey

You've achieved Cyber Essentials — now keep building on that success. Cyber Essentials is a great foundation. It demonstrates that you have key technical controls in place and that you take cybersecurity seriously. IASME Cyber Assurance (ICA) builds on that success. It helps you extend protection across the whole organisation — covering people, policies, governance and resilience — not just technology.

What is IASME Cyber Assurance?

Developed by IASME in collaboration with the UK Government and industry experts, the IASME Cyber Assurance (ICA) standard provides a roadmap to cyber resilience for organisations of all sizes.

It demonstrates that you have appropriate controls in place to manage information securely and protect data — across governance, physical security, and technical defences.

The standard is recognised across government and industry as evidence of strong cyber governance and supply-chain assurance.

IASME Cyber Assurance certification process

Why it matters

For many organisations, ICA is the natural next step: a way to develop structured, proportionate cyber resilience without the cost or complexity of ISO 27001.

Strengthen beyond Cyber Essentials: build on the basics to include governance, people, and process controls.

Demonstrate trust and assurance: ICA certification is recognised across UK supply chains, including defence and government sectors.

Affordable and scalable: designed for SMEs but relevant to any organisation.

Why IASME Cyber Assurance matters

Two levels of certification

Level 1

Verified Assessment

An online self-assessment reviewed by an independent assessor. Demonstrates that appropriate controls are in place and maintained. Often completed alongside Cyber Essentials renewal.

Level 2

Audited Certification

A deeper, independent audit — including documentation review, interviews, and evidence sampling — providing formal assurance that policies and practices are effectively implemented. Level 1 must be passed before applying for Level 2.
