There's a lot of talk about 'passion' in business, isn't there? Sometimes, we can relate - vets, musicians, people who work for a charity, that kind of thing.

But how, you might wonder, does one get 'passionate' about cyber security? Well, for starters, we're computer scientists. However, what we really care about deeply is helping organisations to protect themselves from cyber crime.

Because cyber crime is actually just crime.

It's theft, extortion, criminal damage – really unpleasant crime that can knock hard-working businesses like yours for six. So what we're really passionate about is protecting honest businesses. Businesses that make the world a better place by creating great products, delivering invaluable services and providing meaningful jobs.

I've been in the IT game for a while now – it all started with a Computer Science degree back in 2001.

But that young graduate wasn't quite ready for the office environment and so, seduced by the prospect of adventure, I joined the British Army and enjoyed a varied 17-year career. Upon leaving the military, I returned to my first calling, completing an MSc in Cyber Security and finally entering the corporate world.

I cut my teeth working on a wide range of projects to improve the cyber-security of businesses of all sizes, from sole traders to large multi-nationals and UK Government departments. Then, in 2023 and eager' for a new challenge, I founded Dalton Cyber.

I myself was once a victim of a violent crime. This, together with a sense of public service developed during my time in uniform, is what drives me to help others protect themselves and their businesses from the threat of cyber crime.
